Use local controls for a change to one section or element. Use the editor’s palette/theme panel when you intend to change the page’s design settings more broadly.

Start with the correct selection

Select the section or element and inspect the right panel. Expand the relevant style group when it is collapsed. Available fields come from the selected component: an image, text element, button, and section container do not expose identical controls. Check Editing All Sizes versus Editing Desktop Only before changing a responsive value.

Common control types

Do not add empty text blocks or repeated spaces just to position an element. Use the appropriate spacing or layout control, or ask AI for a clearly scoped structural change.

Page theme versus element styling

Open the palette icon in the editor’s left toolbar to work with the page theme. The current design system includes surface colors, primary and secondary button colors, accent and discount colors, neutral colors, typography, and card/button/media radius settings. Older pages can also expose legacy theme fields. A theme value is useful when several elements should share a design choice. A locally assigned value can override that shared styling, so changing the theme does not mean every customized element will visibly change. Shop-level Settings → Brand and the theme of the experience currently being edited are different scopes. Use Brand settings for the brand inputs, and the editor for the current page’s design work.

A reliable editing sequence

First adjust the base/All Sizes layout. Then inspect desktop and add responsive overrides where needed. Recheck mobile after structural changes. If one field should return to its base value on desktop, clear its desktop override rather than maintaining duplicate values manually. For a layout that needs a different arrangement of elements, use AI section editing with a precise instruction, such as: “On desktop only, place the image beside the copy; preserve the mobile stack, product selection, and button action.”

Section positioning

Supported section roots expose Sticky position with None, Top, and Bottom. This changes how the section stays visible while scrolling. It is separate from selecting a Buy Box’s purchase action or configuring an older global sticky banner. See Sticky CTAs before using sticky behavior with carts, pop-ups, or mobile content.
