Release-preview draft: these metrics are part of the new reporting work. This guide uses the intended product definitions; final tracking rules and availability must be confirmed before publication.
What each metric means
These are the definitions proposed for the new experiment reporting view. They should not be assumed identical to metrics with the same names in GA4, Meta, or another tool.
Session duration
Use session duration to investigate how much time shoppers spend with a page. For example, a longer duration on an educational page may accompany more reading, while a shorter duration on a focused offer page may accompany faster purchasing. Longer is not automatically better. It can also accompany confusion, repeated attempts to use a selector, or difficulty finding the next action. Compare duration with purchase rate, add-to-cart, checkout, and revenue per session. The definition of recorded time matters. Do not assume that an inactive browser tab represents continuous attention or that a missing duration means a zero-second visit. The released tracking rules must determine which time is included.Scroll depth
Scroll depth helps identify whether important content sits beyond where visitors typically reach. It can inform a test of section order or moving key information closer to the top. For example, if visitors rarely reach a lower-page Buy Box, test placing an earlier purchase opportunity rather than simply making the page longer. Check whether the change improves buying, not just scrolling. A percentage represents relative position on the page. Comparing 50% of a short page with 50% of a long page does not mean shoppers saw the same amount of content. A depth value also does not prove that someone read or understood the section.Bounce rate
The planned definition is about leaving without interaction, not simply leaving without purchasing. A shopper can interact with a page and still decide not to buy. Use a high bounce rate as a reason to investigate the campaign-to-page message, loading problems, unclear content, or a missing next action. It is not enough information to conclude that a product or audience is wrong. The exact actions that count as an interaction must follow Jurni’s released definition. Do not import another platform’s time threshold or assume that scrolling always counts.Use the metrics to choose a test
These are investigation prompts, not diagnoses. Inspect the page and test a focused change.
